Karate Programs

Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean Karate.  Simply translated it means, the Chinese Hand Way.  It is nothing shy of a way of life that demands its practitioners to work on living a life of balance, in line with nature and nonviolence.  Tang Soo Do training develops awareness, confidence, respect and integrity, all while strengthening the body and invigorating the spirit. 

Tiny Tigers (ages 3-4)
Little Ninjas take on the world with endless excitement and curiosity.  Here in this magical space we explore and grow in an environment that is appropriate to their needs.  Join us in this adventure of discovery through movement, music, games and giggles!  Children will develop listening skills, focus, coordination, motor skills, and the ability to play safely and respectfully with others.

Little Dragons (ages 5-6)
In this introductory level class children are introduced to the basics of the martial arts world, from bowing and belt tying, to blocking and breaking.  It maintains its playful structure with animal postures, and movement games that hold the child’s attention while simultaneously developing the foundations of martial movements.  Children develop listening skills, eye hand coordination, focus and safe play.

Juniors (ages 7-12)
In the Samurai #2 class the fundamentals are developed without losing the fun aspect.  Still an entry level class, students develop body-space awareness, boundaries, listening skills and focus through fun interactive games and drills that strengthen basics: blocks, kicks, punches, and stances.

Teens (ages 13-18)
In this class beginning and intermediate students train together.  Intermediate students learn patience and leadership through sharing training time with beginning students.  Beginning students benefit from the example of the intermediate students as well as being challenged by their presence.

Adults (ages 18+)
Adults are met with challenging drills, limit pushing exercises, mental and physical demands that sharpen each students ability to take all aspects of themselves to the next level.  Students get a warm up, cardio workout, mental and physical challenge resulting in a total mind-body experience.

Fitness Classes

Body Corps: This challenging workout is designed from the core out with a Martial Fitness twist. Exercises include body weight resistance training, crunches, pilates, sport yoga, hill workouts, adventures in Golden Gate Park, and more.  Program developed by Patrick Cerceau, 3rd degree black belt and an Army Verteran and Kristina Ohlson, 2nd degree black belt. Training begins in January 2009. Sign up now!

 

Pilates: All levels welcome in this morning mat class. We will be focusing on the basics: core strength, stabliization, and flexibility. Attention will be given to the Spine/Pelvis alignment as well. Exercises will be broken down, with modifications for various levels offered, allowing all to learn in a safe environment.

Yoga Practice

Hatha Flow Yoga:  In a candle-lit room with soft music, this practice is designed to be your own. This Hatha Flow session offers less instruction and places emphasis on building a personal, peaceful, internally focused practice. Each class includes physical practice, breathwork and meditation in a supportive community atmosphere.

Tang Soo Do’s purpose is: Health, Self Defense and becoming a better person.  We offer a workout for you and your child that promotes respect, discipline and integrity in a safe and fun learning environment.  We always say, "Families that kick together stick together!"

KICK START your next birthday! Start with our basic Karate Party… 90 Minutes of fun in the studio, including a mini class consisting of exercises, basic techniques and lots of fun and games, highlighting the birthday star as “assistant instructor for the day”!
